What is Patriotism?

NABRETIRE

PATRIOTISM

What is Patriotism?

The noblest motive is the public good.
Let our object be our country, our whole country, and nothing but our country.  And, by the blessing of God, may that country itself become a vast and splendid monument, not of oppression and terror, but of wisdom, of peace, and of liberty, upon which the world may gaze with admiration forever.

National enthusiasm is the great nursery of genius.
"Had I a dozen sons, - each in my love alike, - I had rather have eleven die nobly for their country, than one voluptuously surfeit out of action" - said Shakespeare.

There can be no affinity nearer than our country. Of the whole sum of human life no small part is that which consists of a man's relations to his country, and his feelings concerning it. The love of country produces good manners; and good manners, love of country. The less we satisfy our individual passions, the more we leave  to our general. The proper means of increasing the love we bear to our native country, is to reside some time in a foreign one. After what I owe to God, nothing should be more dear or more sacred than love and respect, I owe to my country - declared De Thou.

Whene'er our country calls, friends, sons, and sires should yield their treasure up, nor own a sense beyond the public safety. Every Indian Citizen should think as "My country claims me all, claims every passion; her liberty henceforth be all my thought; for her, my life, I'd willingly resign, and say with transport that the gain was mine." Our country's welfare is our first concern, and who promotes that best, best proves his duty. The patriot's boast, where'er we roam, his first, best country ever is at home. "I do love my country's good with a respect more tender, more holy and profound than mine own life" as perfectly illustrated by the famous Poet Shakespeare which should be endorsed by each country's citizen and be the part of World Charter. Millions  will be found for defence, but even if we search will torch we will find not even one cent for tribute. Liberty and union, now and forever, should be the same one and inseparable. The age of virtuous politics is past, and we are deep in that of cold pretence. Patriots are grown too shrewd to be sincere, and we too wise to trust them. True patriots all, for be it, understood, we left our country may be for our country's good or otherwise,  as rightly put by George Barrington way back. The age of virtuous politics is past, and we are deep in that of cold pretence. Patriots are grown too shrewd to be sincere, and we too wise to trust them.

When was public virtue to be found where private was not? Can be love the whole who loves no part? He be a nation's friend, who is, in truth, the friend of no man there? Who elights the charities for whose dear sake, that country, if at all, must be beloved? advocated by Cowper.

Love of country is one of the loftiest virtue; and so treason against it has been considered among the most damning sins. Stirred up with high hopes of living to be brave men and worthy patriots, dear to God, and famous to all ages - illustrated by Milton.

Be just and fear not; let all the ends thou aimest at, be thy country's, thy God's and truth's. also said Shakespeare. He was the bravest citizen of Rome that did most love and best serve his country; and be the saint among the Jews who most loved Zion. - Boxter.

Not withstanding the above, we should agree at least today, i.e. the 65th day of Indian Republic , that the Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel! as emphasised by Johnson.

I humbly salute to my Motherland - BHARATH (India) on this pious occasion i.e. INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY 2014.

BRICK BY BRICK WE BUILT OUR NATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EACH OTHER.

COLLECTIVELY WE PUT OUR NATION ON THE PATH OF PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY.

SHOULD WE THEN NOT SAY THAT WE BUILT INDIA TOGETHER.

LET US TAKE PLEDGE ON 65th INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY.

LET US ALL MARCH TOWARDS A KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY.

LET US ALL REDEDICATE OURSELVES TO AN ENERGY-INDEPENDENT INDIA THORUGH NEW DISCOVERIES, BENCHMARK PERFORMANCE, INCLUSIVE GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY.

LET US CALL AND UNITE INDIA'S YOUNGEST MINDS TO SHARE THEIR VISION OF TOMORROW.

WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!

I DO NOT WANT INDIA TO BE AN ECONOMIC SUPERPOWER. I WANT INDIA TO BE A HAPPY COUNTRY. - J.R.D.TATA (After receiving Bharat Ratna, 1992)

CALENDAR - Calendar – Manage Time – Achieve Goals

Calendar – Manage Time – Achieve Goals
There are many ways of Managing Time and Achieve Goals in a Calendar Year. The famous Diary Manufacturing Company (Star), while designing the thematic Diary on “Managing Time Diary” for 2013 had bifurcated month-wise, Plan of Managing Time and Achieve Goals, as stipulated hereunder:

January
Take your hobbies seriously. Whatever they are, enter into them wholeheartedly. Become an expert.  The best way to refresh your mind, to give it a new cutting edge, is to work hard at your hobbies.
February
Make your will the master of your body in small tings and when you want something big it will not be difficult for you to get it.
March
Always be ready to learn.  However knowledgeable and experienced you may be, you can still learn something new.
April
Keep your senses sharp and your mind awake for the message they send you.  Become aware of change and development. Sometimes small innovations evolve into important future development.
May
Learn a new skill.  You might connect this with your main hobby or with your work.  The mind and the body are one.  To master a physical skill you need to develop a disciplined, lively mind to direct your hands and feet the way they should go.
June
Use your imagination. Try to work out things on your own.  Try to invent the machine in your mind.  Then seek out the facts to check your imagination.
July
Be observant.  Notice what is going on both in your world and in the world of great events.  Use all your five senses : sight, hearing, touch, smell & taste, to acquire more knowledge of your surroundings.
August
An alert, attentive mind gives you the means of improving yourself, for its demonstrates your intelligence and enables you to see and grasp opportunities that a less lively mind would not spot.
September
Alert can handle difficult work, arrive quickly at decisions and produce more.  They do not put things off.

October
Learn to face and fight the hard experiences; Physically or mentally, or both.
November
What is holding you back? If you have a “Grasshopper Mind” you know that this is true.  And you know why it is true.  Even the blazing sun can’t burn a hole in a piece of tissue-paper unless its rays are focussed and concentrated on one spot.
December
Follow complete programme conscientiously for a few months, and you will develop a new mental freshness, giving you the ability to make full use of your powers.

Dear Friends,

Let us also sincerely adopt the concept and Achieve Goals for the year 2014.
